Colorado economic update

Colorado employment increased by 5,600 jobs in September. In addition, the unemployment rate was 3.4%. Unfortunately, there are clouds on the horizon, and inflation is at the top of the list of headwinds!

Interest rate hikes have are in place to combat the higher prices. As a result, economic activity in Q4 will be weak.

The annual employment totals for 2022 will be deceptively stellar. During Q1, Colorado employment was strong and broad-based. By Q4, minimal growth or job losses will be more common as the country moves into a recession. The slowdown will carry into 2023. For further details, check out the Review of Colorado Economy – Analysis Through September 2022.

Finally, you are encouraged to attend the 2022 Annual Colorado Demography Summit. This year’s (virtual) event will be on November 4. Please click here for details.
