Colorado Economic Update

The recent release by the Bureau of Labor Statistics stated that Colorado was one of five states to post significant gains for September, a stronger-than-expected increase in employment of 12,700. In September, the mix of jobs was more balanced. Private sector employment increased by 11,300, while government employment expanded by 1,400 jobs.
The best part of the September story is that job growth was broad-based. Eight of the 11 supersectors posted gains. The decrease in employment for the other three sectors was minimal. At the sector level, the largest private sector gains were in Health Care (2,100), TWU (2,000), Construction (2,000), Accommodation and Food Services (1,700), PST (1,200), and Educational Services (1,100).
